Ice Climbing in Alaska

Beer Cliffs, Henry's WI3-

December 28, 2010

Kim, her father Dwight, and I made a second attempt to do some ice climbing at the Beer Cliffs just off the old Glen Allen highway north of Anchorage, Alaska. Last time we ran out of daylight. This time we ran out of "warm". Just as I was rappelling after setting up a top rope on "Henry's" Kim called up that she and her father were too cold to climb.

So I pulled my rope, leaving two quickdraws and a 20' Titan Cordelette at the top, and gave Kim and Dwight a belay as they downclimbed the icey gully. I made two rappels and then met them at the warm truck. Sorry, Dwight, maybe NEXT time!
