Telemark Skiing at Paradise

Mt Rainier National Park

January 29, 2011

Bryon Free, Loren Miller, Adam Greenstreet, Bryon's friend Corey, and I all had Saturday off from work, so we headed down to Paradise at Mt Rainier National Park to do some telemark skiing.

It snowed all day, and the visibility was pretty poor. This lead to a few impressive crashes, not least was Bryon's full-body plant on our first lap! We all skinned up to the flats, below Panarama Point then skied down to the road. Other than the lack of visibility, the conditions were really nice: 6 inches of new snow over firm snow! It was almost like skiing at a resort. Almost...

At the road leading down to Reflection Lakes, we skinned back up, had lunch in the lodge then came back out to do another lap before calling it a day. Thanks, guys for a great day skiing at one of my favorite places in the world and for giving me good tips to improve my telemark skiing!
